Delegates will continue the MACURH tradition of donating pop tabs to the
Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House provides shelter for
thousands of families each year that must travel to receive medical
treatment for a hospitalized child. Each school will collect pop tabs during
the year. Institutions can choose to either bring the pop-tabs to the
conference to be turned in at check-in or they can take the pop-tabs to their
local Ronald McDonald House to be weighed. Institutions who opt for the
latter must turn in the official receipt to the conference staff during check-in, email the reciept or a picture of it to
spiritphilan.macurh2014atku@gmail.com. Every school that turns in pop tabs will earn 5 puzzle points, and the top small and large schools with the most tabs will recieve 50 puzzle points!  An additional 10 puzzle points will be awareded to each school who turns in their pop tabs at their local Ronald McDonald House. A large school is an institution where there are more than 1,000 students living on campus, whereas, a small school has less than 1,000 on campus residents.

Since the theme of the conference revolves around the idea of many small parts of a puzzle coming together as a whole, the MACURH 2014 Conference Staff has chosen to work with a program from our own school, the Little Steps ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) Early Intervention Program. Little Steps provides individualized, high quality learning opportunities for children with developmental disabilities such as autism and down syndrome. The goal of the Little Steps program is for their students to acquire the skills necessary for inclusion in public schools, independent living, and development of meaningful social relationships. Delegates who participate will be creating puzzles to donate to the program. KU will provide blank puzzles in which the delegates will color. These puzzles will help the children in developing their cognitive and motor skills. For more information, please visit the Little Steps ABA Early Intervention Program website!
