Spirit

Puzzle Points

At MACURH 2014, spirit and enthusiasm shown by delegations will be rewarded with “Puzzle Points”. Delegations can receive Puzzle Points by submitting and presenting programs, earning a top 10 program, participating in philanthropy events, submitting a top banner or display, and showing enthusiasm for MACURH or for their own school. Institutions can be rewarded for showing passion for MACURH during the conference as well as on social media before the conference. Puzzle Points will be updated regularly throughout the conference here.

Silent Cheer Zones

In order to encourage excitement and passion for MACURH at all times, this year we are going to do away with “No Cheering Zones”. Instead, we are going to have “Silent Cheering Zones” where delegates are encouraged to cheer silently using hand motions! We will be providing examples that everyone can use, but delegates can also feel free to make up their own. Delegations seen doing silent cheers have a possibility of getting puzzle points!

Roll Call

The roll call for MACURH 2014 will show off the uniqueness and individuality of each school. By showcasing one or all of the four pillars of the conference theme—teamwork, diversity, tradition, and passion—delegations will show the conference how these pillars play a role in their own school. For example, the University of Kansas might show off one of our great traditions of the Rock Chalk chant, or we might show Mt. Oread on which our campus was founded. Each delegation will either submit a video or perform a chant, neither lasting more than one minute. Puzzle Points will be awarded based on creativity and the audience’s favorite. 5 puzzle points will be given for submitting a roll call, and then an extra 50 puzzle points for winning roll call. Youtube Links of roll call videos or an email stating your school will be doing a live roll call must be submitted via email to spiritphilan.macurh2014atku@gmail.com by 10/15.

Banner

MACURH delegations will submit electronic banners to be displayed throughout the conference at the Kansas Union in an effort to promote sustainablity. Banners should show how each institution is unique and relates to one or all of the four pillars of the conference theme. Banners will also be judged based on creativity and originality. Each school will recieve 5 puzzle points for submitting a banner and 50 puzzle points will be awarded to the winning banner. Banner must be emailed to spiritphilan.macurh2014atku@gmail.com ny 10/15.

Display

Displays will be judged based on originality, creativity, and how well it incorporates the conference theme. The dimensions of the displays should be within two cubic feet and should be less than five pounds. 5 puzzle points will be given to  each school who submits a display and 50 puzzle points given to the winning display's school. Displays will be turned in during check-in at the Holiday Inn.

Making the Puzzle

Throughout the conference, puzzle pieces on key chains will be hidden each day throughout campus. Each puzzle piece found will be worth extra Puzzle Points.

Photo Scavenger Hunt

A photo scavenger hunt will take place for another chance to earn Puzzle Points! Delegations will send these photos in to be put in an online album for their school. Each school that completes their album will earn extra Puzzle Points. This will give delegations an opportunity to exploremore of KU’s beautiful campus and will add more competition throughout the conference.
